Student Technical Writer
LittleBird
LittleBird is seeking a particularly talented student technical writer to help us by writing technical product, software, and training documentation.
LittleBird is a fast-paced, team-oriented technology startup based in the GCU Innovation Center. If you want to experience the energy of a collaborative, friendly work environment on campus while gaining valuable business experience, LittleBird is for you!
LittleBird builds resident-focused technology for apartment communities, including smart access control systems (such as a video intercom), smart home automation devices (including lights, locks, thermostats, and motion sensors), and smart community features, all of which can be controlled from our smartphone app.
As technical writer, you will create and manage documents for internal and external communications regarding our products. Accurate technical documentation is crucial for LittleBird employees, partners, and customers, so a strong grasp of both writing and product functions is important.

Responsibilities:
Write technical documentation (installation guides, user manuals, etc.) for LittleBird products, both hardware and software
Manage and update existing documentation as needed
Work closely with several departments to access the most current technical information
Interact with both hardware and software when necessary to best understand their functions
Organize and clarify large amounts of complex technical data
Qualifications:
Can write clear, objective documentation for user guides and technical documents
Can learn technical concepts and explain them in writing
Studying English, Communications, or related field preferred
Strong writing, editing, proofreading skills
Strong organizational, and communication skills
Previous technical experience or knowledge preferred
Knowledge of the apartment industry highly desirable

QUALIFICATIONS:
Has a solid portfolio of written materials
Demonstrates excellent writing skills for sales/marketing materials
Is familiar with major social media platforms and ability to write for them
Is comfortable with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and other word processing tools
Has excellent grammar, usage, and punctuation
Demonstrates impeccable proofreading and editing skills
Can tell when Grammarly is wrong
Is able to follow usage and style guides
Can write for a variety of audiences with a different voice and tone
Knows why the Oxford comma matters

This position on the Product team will work closely with key team members, including Product Engineers and Product Managers, to design successful and delightful experiences for users of our physical and digital products.

Responsibilities:
Review all the projects coming in and out and completing assigned tasks in order to push deadlines
Ensure that every project is of the highest quality, is on brand for Grand Launch Media, and meets the needs of the client
Collaborate with and understand the strengths and weaknesses of the production team in order to perform at maximum efficiency
Maintain morale (recognition and acknowledge growth)
Take initiative in identifying problems and ways to improve, and acting on them immediately
Qualifications:
Be flexible and be available on weekends for camera operations and on-site shoots
Ability to take on an active leadership role for the production team
Sharp written and verbal communication skills, time management skills and organizational skills
Must have experience in media/video production
